Energy Assistance | Cooling

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for cooling is available to all income eligible households in DeKalb, Gwinnett, Rockdale, Newton, and Walton Counties. This program offers a payment once per program year to be applied to your home electric bill.

When can I apply?
This program is currently closed. Appointments will become available around December 2024 for senior citizen and medically homebound households, and January 2025 for all other households.

How long does this process take?
Please allow 6-10 weeks for physical payment to be received. We ask that you continue paying your bill as much as possible during this time to prevent disconnection. If you are facing imminent disconnection, additional measures may be taken for eligible accounts to prevent loss of service.
