What’s on the Ballot?
Maplewood residents will have the opportunity to vote on two propositions on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

Proposition J
Prop J is a charter amendment that expands the City’s Department of Law to include a Defense Attorney, changes how members of the Department of Law are appointed and provides a process for the removal of members of the Department of Law.

Currently, the charter calls for the City Attorney and Prosecuting Attorney to be appointed by the City Manager, with the consent of the City Council.

What will I see regarding a proposed charter amendment on the April 2, 2024 ballot?
Shall Article IX. – Department of Law of the City Charter of the City of Maplewood, Missouri, be amended as outlined in City Ordinance No. 6035?

Proposition S
Prop S is a proposed municipal bond issuance that would allow the city to issue its general obligation bonds for $6,000,000 to construct, reconstruct, extend, repair, and improve city streets, sidewalks, and street lighting.

What will I see regarding Proposition S on the April 2, 2024 ballot?
Shall the City of Maplewood, Missouri, issue its general obligation bonds in the amount of $6,000,000 for the purpose of constructing, reconstructing, extending, repairing, and improving city streets, sidewalks, and street lighting?
